(…Except June, when it’s my birthday.) With this month’s travel link-up topic being your feelings towards the festive season, I thought it only right I spread some Christmas cheer and shout my love for Christmas for all to hear.
First off, the films. FINALLY, I can make everyone watch Love Actually, Elf, Four Christmases, the Holiday, Bad Santa, Christmas with the Cranks, the Grinch, Home Alone and Bridget Jones without (too much) complaint, ON REPEAT.

^ Every year I promise to reinvent this ‘dish’ – I actually think it would taste uhhhhhmaaaaaazing. Maybe this year will be the year.
I just want to watch anything featuring snow, scarves, trees, fairy lights, laughter, turkeys, crackers and fires.
Then there’s the music. From December 1st, it’s the Christmas playlist and the Christmas playlist only. Preferably played with a large glass of red wine, but this is just a bonus.
And the people. People suddenly become happy (or maybe I just do). Either way, everyone seems so much nicer. I feel like everyone walks around repeating “it’s Christmas” every time something irritating happens that would usually make their blood boil and cause an expletive to be muttered under their breath. (Whilst writing this I am becoming more & more aware of the fact that it’s probably just me that’s nicer causing those around me to become more agreeable too, ha.) ANYWAY, I see more smiles and cuddles and kisses and hear more humming and singing and laughter, so it’s definitely a time of year that elicits happiness in my eyes.

And last but not least (as if I would forget), there’s the food, glorious food (and booze). I usually aim to have around six Christmas dinners within the month of December with various groups of friends and then mine & Michael’s families.

Don’t get me wrong, I love an English Christmas dinner (minus the pud) more than most, but it is just a glorified roast (no offence). So whilst I lap up the roast chicken, pigs in blankets, roasties, parsnips, carrots, stuffing, Yorkshire puds and gravy like a starved human, there is simply no contest when I say that Danish Christmas dinner is where it’s AT.

Yummy and all, but versus roast duck, pork crackling, red cabbage, caramelized potatoes (yep, that’s potatoes cooked in SUGAR) and thick brown sauce, the winner is clear.

And let’s not forget all of the extra’s. Mince pies, brandy butter, cocktail sausages, salmon blinis, gingerbread houses, advent calendars and Cadbury’s selection boxes.

And the obligatory tack. Oversized paper thin red & green crowns and bat moustache pieces.

December is also the only time of year that I feel no one can judge me for my alcohol consumption. I’ll take bubbles, mulled wine… all wine, eggnog, amaretto and Bailey’s on ice on tap please.

In short, Christmas makes me all giddy & excited like a new love and gives me a glow like I’m pregnant. Maybe I should marry Christmas…
December is all the happiness, all the parties, all the markets, all the social occasions, all the festive colours, all the food & booze, all the coziness and all the warmth. It is HYGGE (the one Danish word that simply cannot be translated into English and is the epitome of Christmas).
Have a great December and even better Christmas Day peoples x
And if you’re a Bah Humbug, be warned, it’s only a matter of time before I infect you with the festive bug.
