Somehow, a weekday in Spain is just so much better than a weekday back home.
It may have something to do with the al fresco dining, fresh fish, smells of the sea, warmth of the sun, wine with every meal and ice-cream extravaganzas, but that’s just guessing…
So although it was just an ordinary Tuesday, it felt anything but.
After basking like tortoise’s all morning, Michael & I rewarded our active selves with a huge salad, filled with all of my favourite goodies; cherry tomatoes; cucumber; avocado; beetroot; and pistachios, because why not?
And let’s not forget the large pours of ice-cold white wine.

Having chatted & sipped until the light started to fade, we thought we better get a shift on.
We had decided to stroll all the way to nearby Estepona (a solid few miles away), taking in the scenery en route, and later choosing somewhere for dinner.

It was the first time that we’d actually wandered the Bahia Boutique Apartments grounds, preferring to stay hidden away in our holiday home and enjoy the privacy of our own pool.
But discovering these beauties made me feel excited for the arrival of our good friends Abi & Will in a couple of days, as I knew that we’d be able to spread out & splash around to our heart’s content.

The apartments are located right on the beach front, so you only have to step outside a gate to find your toes sinking into the sand.

I’ve always loved the terracotta colour of houses in the Mediterranean – to me it just screams HOLIDAY.

The walk along the sea was absolutely blissful, with me stopping to admire the full moon and perfect photo opportunities multiple times along the way.

We finally reached Estepona and were impressed by the size of the town. There were so many inviting squares, shops and eateries dotted throughout.
But having spent the past hour by the sea, we really fancied ourselves some fish.
Heading back to the water front, we found the perfect place; El Pescador.
With fish on every plate and tables right beside the beach, we were two very happy (& hungry) diners.

^ Not sure if you can tell, but I really couldn’t get enough of the moon.
When our waiter provided not only fresh bread & butter, but a whole slab of homemade fish pate (a first for me), I knew that we’d struck gold.
Thankfully, my premonition was correct.
Michael chose swordfish.

Whilst I opted for the grilled calamari.

I can’t even put into words how good this squid was. Honestly, I’ve never tasted fresh squid like it. It was so tender & tasty, and exactly how it should always be.
We shared a plate of buttered seasonal veg.

And a lovely bottle of crisp, dry white wine.

We literally could not stop talking about how good the food was.
If you ever find yourself in Estepona, you simply MUST eat here.

Plus, anywhere that leaves you the entire bottle of liqueur to pour your own post-dinner aperitif is a sure-set winner in my eyes.

Amazing!! You’re definitely got me craving squid now! That food looks incredible.
Lots of love,
Angie
